Volunteers are important assets and are valued for their experiences and services. A strong volunteer base allows for contributions from the volunteers to be effectively integrated with existing resources to help meet the core mission of CCF. Join us as a volunteer and be part of a meaningful and rewarding journey for children who are impacted by cancer.

What is expected as a volunteer in CCF?
- To be 18 years old and above at the point of application.
- For all Service-based Volunteering (SBV) and some forms of Event-based Volunteering (EBV), vaccination against Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR), Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (TDAP) and Chicken Pox is compulsory.
- Adhere to the commitment period of each volunteer programme.
- Most of all, to have a heart for the children and their families who are affected by cancer!
Service-based Volunteering (SBV) Programme
Befriender
The aim of this programme is to provide support and friendship to the child who has been confined at home due to cancer treatment and is in need of a friend or a playmate. This service may be provided to the sibling of a child who is affected by cancer.
Responsibilities of a Volunteer Befriender
- Provide academic support and guidance to CCF beneficiary.
- Able to engage the children in recreational activities not limited to art & craft, music and board games.
- Able to commute to child’s home or interact via video conferencing.
Commitment
- At least two hours per week, for a minimum period of six months, at the child’s home or online.
- Session day and time will be arranged per assignment.
PALS Lunch Assistant
The aim of this programme is to engage and supervise children during their lunch hour at Place for Academic Learning and Support (PALS).
Responsibilities of PALS Lunch Assistant
- Washing and sanitising of the children’s cutlery.
- Serving lunch to the children.
- Supervise the children during play.
- Cleaning of the lunch area.
- Cleaning and sanitising toys after play.
Commitment
- At least two hours per week, for a minimum period of eight months, at CCF Community Office @ GB Point.
- Able to volunteer from 12.00pm and 2.00pm, on a select weekday (from Monday – Friday). Except for public holidays and school holidays.
PALS Class Assistant
The Class Assistant helps engage young children by supporting interactive learning activities and creating a positive classroom environment. Responsibilities include assisting with hands-on tasks, encouraging participation, and providing guidance to keep children focused and engaged.
Responsibilities of Class Assistant
- Assisting teachers in classroom to provide care and attention to young children.
- Assisting with classroom duties.
- Maintaining a safe and supportive environment for young children.
- Helping with administrative duties if needed (e.g. Cleaning and sanitising of toys).
Commitment
- At least three hours per week, for a minimum period of eight months, at CCF Community Office @ GB Point.
- Able to volunteer from 11.00am and 2.00pm, on a selected weekday (from Monday – Friday). Except for public holidays and school holidays.
Play Personnel
The aim of this programme is to provide an avenue for a child to have fun even in hospital, a place they associate with pain and isolation. Play Personnel Programme is held in both KKH and NUH on weekdays.
Responsibilities of a Volunteer Play Personnel
- Engage children and teens with cancer in structured recreational activities at the hospital ward, outpatient clinic or CCF’s Family Resource Centres at NUH/KKH.
- Interact with the children and teens in a safe and appropriate manner, in a one-on-one and/or group setting.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of activities and events.
- Assist in the sanitisation of toys after play, conduct infection control checks for visitors entering the playroom/centre, and keep the playroom/centre neat and safe.
Commitment
- One fixed slot per week for a minimum period of twelve months (from Monday – Friday).
- Able to volunteer during the following hours at either KKH or NUH:

Tutor
The aim of this programme is to assist a child in keeping up with his/her studies, to alleviate his/her anxiety over academic demands.
Responsibilities of Volunteer Tutor
- Provide academic support and guidance to CCF beneficiary.
- Proficient in academic subjects, preferably with prior experience in teaching/tutoring.
- Able to commute to child’s home or tutor via video conferencing.
Commitment
- At least two hours per week, for a minimum period of one academic year, at the child’s home or online.
- Session day and time will be arranged per assignment.
Event and Skills-based Volunteering Programme
Administrative Support
CCF requires administrative support periodically to facilitate the work that we do. Some areas of administrative support include, but are not limited to:
- Data entry and mail sorting
- Packing of goodie bags and tee-shirts
Commitment
- Able to commit to the entire duration of the project/assignment.
- To perform stipulated duties and provide the necessary deliverables punctually.
Programme Support
CCF requires additional support for programmes such as KidsConnect, YouthConnect, Survivors’ Day and Family Day. Such programmes are key to strengthening the emotional well-being and social skills of children with cancer, and also promote family togetherness.

Commitment
- To be present during all briefings/orientations and on the day(s) of programme.
- To perform stipulated duties and be punctual on the day(s) of programme.
